Sedco 707 Columns
The above is a 3D model created in AutoCAD by Scan Tech, LLC of the columns on the drilling rig Sedco 707. The columns were drawn based off of laser scan data and original as-built drawings provided by the customer.

SCAN TECH, LLC is a U.S. based engineering company based on the Mississippi-MS Gulf Coast. We use the latest 3D laser scanning equipment and software to develop precise 3D CAD models for a variety of applications. We can provide complete turnkey services from laser scan survey or conventional survey to detailed design drawings. If you can dream it up, we can make it happen.
Our surveys are electronically processed to provide the following: High resolution 3D point cloud models that can incorporate mutiple laser scans that encompass entire work areas or even whole vessels, intelligent 3D CAD models, detailed design drawings, P&ID's & part nesting, clash detection analysis with engineer-design revamps, animated 3D Models, and virtual reality models.

Laser Scanning
High resolution 3D scanning is a well proven and accepted technology in the plant design industry today, offering the designer a unique opportunity to have a detailed and accurate "as-built" 3D dimensional knowledge of the entire area before the design phase is started. In the past, designers relied on out-dated drawings, field engineering notes, and other possibly inaccurate materials to create new designs. Now we do it in half the time, with near exact accuracy.

The above is a hydraulic power unit modeled to check interferences between new equipment being placed in the space and the existing physical objects already located within the space.
